Quick start
- Download the latest version from the download page.
- Open the DMG, drag PlugTalk into your Applications folder.
- Launch it — PlugTalk lives in your menu bar (top-right of the screen).
- Plug or unplug a USB device. You’ll hear a sound.
Activating your license
After purchase you’ll receive an email with a license key starting with PLUGTALK-. Click the menu bar icon → paste your key → click Activate.

Common questions
“Sounds are not playing.” Check your Mac volume isn’t muted, and that the device you’re testing isn’t in PlugTalk’s mute list (click its row → mute icon). For 60 seconds after wake-from-sleep, PlugTalk is silent on purpose to avoid false plug sounds from re-enumeration.
“My iPhone makes plug+unplug+plug when I connect it.” This is iOS’s Trust prompt re-enumerating. Working as designed — there’s no way to suppress only the middle event without delaying every unplug sound.
“I want to use PlugTalk on a second Mac.” One license activates on up to 3 Macs. Just paste the same key on the second machine. To free up a slot, click Deactivate in the license tab on the old Mac first.
“How do I get a refund?” Within 7 days of purchase, email us with your license key. Full refund, no questions asked.
“Will it work on Intel Macs?” PlugTalk targets Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) running macOS 14 or later. Intel is not officially supported.
