Terms of Service

By purchasing or installing PlugTalk ("the app"), you agree to these terms. They're short and written in plain English on purpose.

1. License grant

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run PlugTalk on up to 3 Macs you personally own or use for work. The license is yours forever, with all updates included, as long as you don't violate these terms.

2. What you can do

• Install on up to 3 of your Macs.
• Use it for personal or commercial work.
• Customize sound packs, icons, settings — make it yours.
• Upload your own sounds (subject to fair use of those sounds).

3. What you can't do

• Resell, rent, or redistribute the app or your license key.
• Reverse-engineer, modify, or extract the application logic for commercial purposes.
• Remove copyright or attribution notices.
• Use the app to harm or harass others (e.g., setting deliberately disruptive sounds in shared workspaces).

4. Refund policy

Full refund within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email hello@thenightwatcher.online with your license key. Your license will be revoked and the money returned via the original payment method within 24 hours of our reply.

After 7 days, refunds are at our discretion but generally granted for technical issues we can't resolve.

5. Updates

Updates ship via Sparkle 2 framework. They are included for the lifetime of your license. We may release new major versions that change the feature set, but you keep the version you bought — no forced upgrades.

6. Compatibility

PlugTalk requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4, etc). We don't guarantee compatibility with future macOS versions, but we'll do our best to keep up. If a future macOS version breaks PlugTalk and we can't fix it within 90 days, you can request a pro-rated refund.

7. Distribution outside the App Store

PlugTalk is distributed directly via our website, not via the Mac App Store. It is signed with a Developer ID Application certificate and notarized by Apple, so macOS Gatekeeper accepts it on first launch without warnings.

8. Disclaimers

PlugTalk is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we test thoroughly, we can't guarantee it will work in every macOS configuration. Maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid for the license.

We are not responsible for: lost data due to forced eject of a USB drive, sounds played during sensitive moments (configure mute rules!), or any direct/indirect damages arising from use of the app.

9. Termination

Your license terminates if you violate these terms. We'll send a warning and 14 days to cure the issue before terminating. Upon termination, you must uninstall the app.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the developer's country of residence. Any disputes will be handled there. EU/UK consumers retain all statutory rights regardless.

11. Changes

Material changes to these terms will be announced via a banner on the site and email to active license holders. Continued use after changes = acceptance. If you don't agree, request a pro-rated refund within 30 days.
